Western Canada Triathlon Training Camp
The Western Canada Race Series is a new for 2024 collaboration supported by the
provincial sport organizations (Triathlon BC, Triathlon Alberta, Triathlon Saskatchewan),
clubs, and coaches to provide training and racing opportunities for athletes aged 14-23
racing draft legal triathlon. As part of the series, the group is offering a training camp
immediately following the first race in BC. ETA athletes within this age range and
training at Tier 2 or 3 are eligible to attend. The camp will feature the best provincial
junior athletes training and learning together from the best coaches and 94 forward is
investing in this project to support Canadian developmental triathletes.
 

Camp Details:
Dates - Saturday May 18th to Sunday May 26th
Locations - May 18-19 Vancouver (arrival and race North Shore Triathlon); May 20 -
May 26th Victoria

Accommodation - The team will stay at the same hotel (specifics tbc in coming
weeks) in Vancouver before the race. Accommodation in Victoria is at the University of
Victoria, with boys and girls in separate dorms. Coaches will be in separate housing in
the same complex.
 

Chaperones - Kevin Clark and senior ETA athlete Elani (aged 27) will be the male and
female chaperones, respectively.

Transportation - Air Travel: athletes will fly IN to Vancouver and OUT of Victoria; Ferry
Travel: travel from Vancouver to Victoria will be via BC Ferries. These are NOT included
in the camp fee. Ground transportation: transportation to the ferry in Vancouver and
all ground transportation in Victoria is provided and included in the fee.
Food: Some staple food will be provided, but athletes are responsible for additional
food costs.
Camp Cost and Registration: The direct camp cost is $400/athlete and will be payable directly to 97forward 
The ETA are asking for a $100 deposit on registering which will be used to offset the coaching costs.

($400 camp fee + $100 coaching costs = $500 total)

** The ETA squad will be traveling and staying together with the chaperones in
Vancouver. Once attendees are confirmed, we will arrange for a team meeting to sort
out these details. Please do not book independent flights or accommodation; if you
do, the ETA cannot provide chaperone support. **
 

Required equipment:
- Swim training gear including wetsuit
- Bike gear for outdoor riding
- Bike box/bag for air travel
- ETA race suit as per world triathlon uniform rules to race in WCS and national
junior development races

Typical Training week with B.C junior team:
Two to three sessions per day or 3-4hrs per day, including:
● 4-5 swims
● 3-4 bikes
● 3-5 runs

ETA athletes planning to attend are advised to be progressing to this number of
sessions to be ready for the camp and Western Canada series racing.
